CBSUA-SIPOCOT CONDUCTS DUY’AP EXTENSION TRAINING FOR LGU CABUSAO

With the aim to empower local leaders with practical ICT skills to support effective governance and community development, the College of Information Technology (CIT) of CBSUA-Sipocot conducted the 2nd leg of its “DUYAP TECHTalk Extension Project” on May 3, 2025.

This activity served as a continuation of the two-day extension training held on April 12, 2025. The training was held under the leadership of Prof. Maria Liwayway P. Matamorosa, with Mr. Dennis C. Gabon as the training proponent. Barangay officials from the Municipality of Cabusao actively participated in the program.

Mr. Sonny Machado, faculty member of CIT and also one of the resource speakers, warmly welcomed all participants and emphasized the importance of ICT in the operations of local government units. The first training session, led by Mr. Machado, focused on the use of Google Spreadsheet. Participants were introduced to various spreadsheet features, including formatting commands, the use of formulas and functions for basic computations, and the generation of charts and graphs. He also demonstrated real-time collaboration and guided participants on how to download and manage Excel files. A hands-on activity was conducted, where each participant—representing a specific barangay—practiced data entry tasks relevant to their community data.

Following the first session, Mrs. Lelia T. Furto, the Coordinator of the Extension Service Unit delivered another message. She emphasized the importance of extension programs in building the capacities of local leaders and encouraged continued engagement. She also expressed hope that more community members would participate in future training sessions to further broaden the impact of the program.

Mr. Arjay Llanera facilitated the second and final training session. His discussion covered the fundamentals of the platform. Participants were given the opportunity to explore the platform through guided exercises, enabling them to create simple presentations relevant to barangay activities or local government reports.

The training concluded with a closing remarks from Ms. Jecelyn Mae A. Baluro, Chairperson of the college. She expressed her appreciation to all the faculty extensionists, student extensionists, and participants for contributing to the success of the event. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘈𝘭𝘺𝘴𝘴𝘢 𝘔𝘢𝘦 𝘈𝘥𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘭; 𝘗𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘈𝘭𝘣𝘶𝘦𝘳𝘰, 𝘙𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯, 𝘗𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘛𝘰𝘳𝘻𝘢𝘳
