The activity was opened by Dr. Ernesto D. Doloso Jr., Campus Administrator, who welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of engaging in the university’s research, extension, and innovation programs. He also introduced the invited officials from CBSUA’s various campuses.
The orientation began with Dr. Jayson M. Danas, Director of the Technology Commercialization and Promotion Division (TCPD), who delivered an overview of the university’s technology commercialization processes. He discussed key procedures, manuals, and support mechanisms, highlighting the role of branding and marketing in establishing a unique identity for CBSUA-developed products. His presentation was followed by a dynamic open forum with participants.
Mr. Marvin Molin, on behalf of Prof. Vladimir Foronda, presented the Extension Services Division’s (ESD) programs. He focused on the Community-Centered Learning and Linkages (C2L2) program and clarified faculty responsibilities related to extension workload, reinforcing the university’s community engagement efforts.
Representing the Research Services Division (RSD), Ms. Marlene A. Ramos, Research Coordinator of CBSUA-Calabanga, presented the university’s Research and Development Agenda. She discussed research proposal guidelines, management protocols, and incentive systems to encourage active faculty research. Ms. Ramos also introduced the division’s roadmap for the coming months, specifically the three-pronged programs of the division, namely the RSD Framework, Laboratory for Collaboration (LabCo), and digitization of the RI processes. Dr. Lea Rose Credo also discussed the research priorities and opportunities from national agencies based on the Cross-Institutional Visit of the RSD from February 23 to March 1, 2025.
The session concluded with a joint presentation by Engr. Monica A. Filio, Director of the Intellectual Property Management Office (IPMO), and Assoc. Prof. Sheila V. Ruiz of the Knowledge Management Center (KMC). Engr. Filio emphasized the responsibility of protecting university-generated innovations, discussing intellectual property rights related to design, copyright, and trademarks. Assoc. Prof. Ruiz detailed the KMC’s role in managing knowledge assets and supporting research dissemination and community engagement.
The caravan effectively reinforced CBSUA’s commitment to cultivating a strong, collaborative culture of research, innovation, and extension through informed and engaged academic stakeholders.
