CBSUA RESEARCH DIVISION CHAMPIONS STUDENT INNOVATION IN 37TH STEAC

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) Research Division successfully held the 37th Science and Technology Excellence Awards Competition (STEAC) on June 4–5, 2025, at the Alvaro Rabina Hall, CBSUA – Pili Campus, bringing together outstanding graduating students from both undergraduate and graduate levels. The annual event served as a dynamic forum for showcasing research with real-world impact, underscoring the Division’s commitment to innovation, relevance, and academic excellence.

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: Quality Education (SDG 4) and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17), the competition highlighted the University’s commitment to promoting research that supports national and regional development priorities. Participants presented studies addressing key issues such as food and nutrition security, sustainable energy, environmental conservation, economic empowerment, and socio-economic development.

This year’s STEAC provided students with the opportunity to share their work with peers and experts and to receive valuable feedback from a panel of distinguished evaluators.

“The Science and Technology Excellence Awards was more than a competition; it was a celebration of student-led innovation,” said Dr. Ramona Isabel Ramirez, the Vice-President for Research and Innovation. “It empowered students to contribute solutions that aligned with both academic rigor and community needs.”

As the 37th STEAC concluded, it reaffirmed the critical role of student research in building sustainable futures and driving technological advancement in the country’s most crucial sectors.
