CBSUA RENEWS PARTNERSHIP WITH UNIVERSITAS MATARAM

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) and Universitas Mataram (UNRAM) in Indonesia reaffirmed their commitment to international collaboration by renewing their partnership through a virtual Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony on February 5, 2025. The agreement solidifies their dedication to advancing academic and research initiatives.

The two universities have a history of successful collaboration dating back to 2019. CBSUA and UNRAM’s shared vision of enhancing higher education and promoting impactful research has resulted in various programs and activities fostering academic growth and international cooperation.

Ahmad Junaidi, UNRAM Coordinator of International Learning, highlighted the breadth of the CBSUA-UNRAM partnership, citing academic exchange programs, most notably the International Credit Transfer Program (ICTP) which led to global learning opportunities for students and faculty, and cultural exchange initiatives.

CBSUA President Dr. Alberto N. Naperi expressed his support and enthusiasm for the renewed partnership, looking forward to future collaborations. “The partnership has brought many positive aspects to both universities,” Dr. Naperi stated. He emphasized the recognition CBSUA received for its engagement with ASEAN partners, including UNRAM, and the opportunities the agreement provides for students to engage beyond the Philippine education system.

Prof. Bambang Hari Kusumo, Ph.D., Rector of the University of Mataram, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to CBSUA, noting the five-year history of reciprocal student visits. Prof. Kusumo also highlighted the positive impact the partnership has had on UNRAM’s World University Rankings.

The renewed MOU focuses on the continued exchange of knowledge, resources, and expertise. Both institutions are committed to building a strong academic and research partnership that will benefit students, faculty, and the wider community.

The virtual ceremony was attended by key officials from both universities. Representing UNRAM were Prof. Kusumo, along with the Vice-Rectors for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems; Academic Affairs; Finance and General Affairs; and Students and Alumni. Also present were the Heads of the Bureau, Deans, the Head of Quality Assurance and Learning, the Head of the Office of International Affairs, and program heads from the International Cooperation and Training Programs (ICTP).

Meanwhile, CBSUA attendees included Vice Presidents Prof. Cesar Armando S. Camba, Jr. (Business and External Affairs), Dr. Ramona Isabel S. Ramirez (Research and Innovation), Atty. Dominador F. Faurillo (Administration and Finance), and Dr. Emerson L. Bergonio (Academic Affairs), as well as Campus Administrators, IRO Coordinators, and Heads of Colleges from participating ICTP programs.

CBSUA and UNRAM are eager to continue their collaborative efforts, developing innovative programs that will contribute to their respective countries and the global academic community.
