In a joint effort to promote sustainable agriculture and strengthen community resilience, the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), with the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) of Pili under the Organic Agriculture Program (OAP) and the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of San Isidro, conducted a Training on Seedling Production, Processing, and Management for youth and selected parents on April 6, 2025.
The event aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills in nursery establishment, seed germination techniques, transplanting, and proper seedling care. In addition, it sought to encourage active participation from the younger generation and their parents in agricultural practices to support both livelihood and food security within the community.
Participants engaged in both lectures and hands-on demonstrations led by Alvin A. Regala, a faculty expert from the CBSUA College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Also present during the activity were Rodel M. Garbeles, MAO-LGU Pili Organic Agriculture Production Focal Person; Hon. Emmanuel Bulalacao, Barangay Kagawad – Committee on Agriculture; Hon. Michael G. Dela Cruz, Barangay Kagawad; and Abigail V. Guinoo, ESD Unit Head and CANR Faculty.
The activity is part of the college’s YOUNGSTERS Project and LGU Pili’s Municipal Agriculturist Office (MAO) banner program “Find One Commodity for Unique Specialization per Barangay (FOCUS Barangay) & Beautification Projects thru Organic Edible Landscaping”. Both initiatives aim to engage the community members, especially the youth and their parents, in various agricultural aspects. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘈𝘣𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘦𝘭 𝘙𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘉. 𝘉𝘰𝘣𝘪𝘴
