CBSUA JOINS THE 36TH REGIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) participated in the 36th Regional Symposium on Research and Development, with the theme “Advancing Resilience: R&D Solutions for Sustainable Agriculture, Aquatic Systems, and Natural Resources Management,” held on March 6, 2025, at the Camarines Norte State College.

The representatives presented their research studies in various categories. In the development category, Dr. Mae Lustre presented the research study entitled “Adoption of Improved Rice Varieties in Camarines Sur.” Dr. Lustre highlighted the importance of improved rice varieties to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability. While in the research category, Mr. Caryl Dioneda presented the research study entitled “Application of Shape Analysis in Three Congeneric Species of Andara Spp. (Blood Cockles) for Stock Discrimination and Identification.” Dioneda demonstrated the application of shape analysis in distinguishing between different species of blood cockles, which has significant implications for aquatic resource management.

Further, in the poster entry category, two representatives showcased their research. Mr. Mark Clarence De Lustre presented a poster on his research study entitled “Ethnobotanical Survey and Morphological Analysis of Dioscorea Species in Bula, Camarines Sur” under the advisory of Ms. May Esquejo. Dr. Joanne Peralta also presented a poster on the research study entitled “Detection of Vibrio parahaemolytirus in Pacific White Shrimps (Penaeus vannamei) and Assessment of Knowledge, Attitude, and Practices of Seafood Vendors on Shrimp Retail Management from Public Markets of 1st District Municipalities of Camarines Sur” under the advisory of Dr. Ilene Mirabeles.
