CBSUA JOINS FIRST QUARTER NATIONAL SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL

In line with its commitment to disaster preparedness, the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) participated in the First Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill on March 13, 2025. The drill was conducted across its campuses in Pili, Calabanga, Sipocot, and Pasacao to assess the university’s readiness to respond to natural disasters.

The exercise aimed to evaluate CBSUA’s capacity to implement emergency protocols and evacuation procedures, ensuring the safety of students, faculty, and staff.

The simultaneous earthquake drill began with a signal, marking the start of the simulated earthquake. Participants promptly executed the “Drop, Cover, Hold” protocol to minimize the risk of injuries from falling debris and structural hazards. Once the simulated shaking ended, all individuals followed designated evacuation routes to safety zones.

Safety marshals and volunteers played a crucial role in facilitating the orderly movement of evacuees. Various emergency response teams, including the Gryphon fire volunteers, Red Cross Youth Council (RCYC), and the Disaster Response and Recovery Operation Unit, swiftly responded to simulated emergency scenarios, including assisting injured individuals.

Beyond the earthquake simulation, the university also conducted drills for other emergencies such as fire incidents, chemical spills, acts of violence, medical emergencies, building system failures, and explosions.

Following the drill, a debriefing session was held to analyze the execution of the exercise. Participants and emergency response teams discussed key observations, successes, and areas for improvement to enhance future drills. This evaluation aims to refine CBSUA’s emergency preparedness strategies and strengthen its overall disaster response capabilities.

Through this initiative, CBSUA continues to foster a culture of safety and preparedness, reinforcing its commitment to protecting its community across all campuses. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘔𝘳. 𝘒𝘢𝘳𝘭 𝘑𝘢𝘺𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘵, 𝘊𝘙𝘊 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘧𝘧; 𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘊𝘉𝘚𝘜𝘈 𝘊𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴, 𝘊𝘗𝘈𝘎
