CBSUA, FRS LEAD MUSHROOM PRODUCTION TRAINING FOR WOMEN’S COOPERATIVE IN PILI

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) and the Fundación de Religiosos para la Salud (FRS) conducted the Training on Mushroom Production on May 27–29, 2025, at CBSUA Pili, Camarines Sur.

The activity aimed to provide participants with knowledge and skills on the step-by-step process of pure culture, spawn production, fruiting bag preparation, and kabuteng saging production. Attendees also explored on-site mushroom production through an educational tour at selected mushroom production sites owned by Mary Jean P. Salamanque in Buhi, Domingo Bulalacao in Baao, Dr. Francy Templo in Naga City, and Vangie Zaragosa in Pili, Camarines Sur.

The selected women’s cooperative from Pili, which plans to venture into the mushroom enterprise, participated in the activity. Experts from the CBSUA Sipocot Mushroom Center—Arce B. Dellere, Kyla Madlangbayan, and Tom Rodriguez—together with representatives from the DA Mushroom Research and Development Center—Pedro T. Oliver, Elizabeth Hilotin, Jenny Alvarez, and Angelina Penaserada—served as the resource speakers during the two-day training and guided the participants during the site visits on the third and final day of the activity.

The CBSUA Extension Services Division Director, Prof. Vladimir R. Foronda, graced the event and delivered an inspirational message to all participants. Prof. Foronda encouraged the group to be more flexible and to explore further the possible opportunities in mushroom production. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘈𝘣𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘦𝘭 𝘙𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘍. 𝘉𝘰𝘣𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘉𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘢𝘦 𝘙𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵
