CBSUA, FRS, COA, AND MAO PILI LAUNCH HIGH-VALUE CROP PRODUCTION TRAINING

Under the project code 2023-PRYC 000597 AECID, Fundación de Religiosos para la Salud (FRS) and Cooperación Española (COA), in partnership with the Municipal Agriculture Office–Pili and CBSUA, conducted the “High Value Crop (HVC) Production Livelihood Training of Piligueña Growers Agriculture Cooperative“ on March 26, 27 & 31, 2025, at PFTKL Training Center, CAO Compound, Cadlan, Pili, Camarines Sur.

The initiative endeavored to strengthen the socio-economic empowerment, governance, and resilience of vulnerable women in Pili, particularly those involved in the Piligueña Growers Agriculture Cooperative.

The event featured Engr. Rommel Nacario, CAO officer and focal person for HCV from LGU Pili, who discussed the Cost and Return Analysis. Mary Rose Molina, HVC and ABE Technical Staff, presented the Taro production while the HVC Technical Staff, Benedict Villanueva, provided further details on Ube production.

Also present at the activity were FRS staff headed by the Local Coordinator, Marie Joyce Cheryl B. Armea, her team, and their Country Coordinator, Alfonso Nuñez. Participants learned about the importance of identifying in-demand seed varieties and the entire production process, from planting to post-harvest handling. They were also introduced to various gardening tools and equipment, such as power sprayers, soil augers, and grass cutters. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to learn how to operate a mini rotavator, which is used to pulverize the soil.
