In observance of Rabies Awareness Month, the College of Veterinary Medicine (CBSUA-CVM), Local Government Unit (LGU) of Goa, and PPL Paws and Tails Veterinary Clinic, collaborated to conduct the “Dog Registration and Anti-Rabies Vaccination and the Launching of the Electronic Dog Registration System (eDOG),” with the theme โRabies-Free na Pusa’t Aso, Kaligtasan ng Pamilyang Pilipinoโ. Pet owners from the Municipality of Goa gathered at Bagumbayan Grande Covered Court of Goa Camarines Sur on March 14, 2025, to participate in the activity and seek free anti-rabies vaccination for their pets.
The program opened with a message from Hon. Antolin P. Respall, Municipal Vice Mayor of Goa, who reaffirmed the LGUโs commitment to protecting the community from the threat of rabies and promoting awareness to achieve a rabies-free community. CBSUA-CVM faculty member Dr. Rochelle F. Arrabis emphasized that rabies is preventable through vaccination and encouraged pet owners to participate in the fight against rabies to protect both human and animal lives.
Additionally, Dr. Jaime Tria V, another faculty of CBSUA-CVM and a member of the Philippine Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PSPCA), further emphasized the responsibility of pet owners in ensuring their pets receive proper vaccination, nutrition, and medical care. He also advised that, in case of a dog or cat bite, individuals should immediately seek medical attention and receive an anti-rabies vaccine to prevent any potential health complications.
Hundreds of cats and dogs received free anti-rabies vaccinations and freebies from sponsors. The event successfully promoted rabies awareness and responsible pet ownership, reinforcing public safety’s importance and strengthening the community’s bond with its four-legged members.
