CBSUA CHAMPS 23rd SARINGAYA AWARDS

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) has proudly secured the championship in the Academe Category at the 23rd Saringaya Awards, held on June 30, 2025, at the Marison Hotel in Legazpi City, Albay. This prestigious win highlights CBSUA’s dedication and innovative efforts in preserving and conserving the planet.

The Saringaya Award, the Bicol Region’s highest environmental distinction, culminates the Philippine Environment Month celebration. Spearheaded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region V, this annual event recognizes individuals, organizations, and agencies that have made outstanding contributions to environmental sustainability and protection.

A total of 14 participants including government agencies, academic institutions, local government units, and private stakeholders partook in the competition, each submitting audio-visual presentations showcasing their environmental initiatives, programs, and projects.

CBSUA achieved an impressive 92.2% in the Academe Category, underscoring the university’s strong commitment to a greener, more sustainable, and resilient future. Dr. Emerson L. Bergonio, Vice President for Academic Affairs, represented CBSUA President Alberto N. Naperi at the event. He remarked, “We are deeply inspired by this honor, and rest assured, we will continue our efforts to innovate and champion environmental stewardship for the next generations.”

Other categories saw wins for the World-Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines-Donsol Integrated Conservation Program (DICP) in the People’s Organizations/Non-Government Organizations Category, Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) in the Industry Category, and the City of Tabaco in the Local Government Unit Category.

Also representing CBSUA at the event were Dr. Gertrudis Girlie C. Jaucian (Dean of College of Arts and Sciences), Dr. Philip N. Talay (Dean of College of Economics and Management), Prof. Ginalyn F. Sabroso (Chairperson, BS Environmental Science), and Ms. Geniesis B. Campos-Papa (Information Officer III).
