CBSUA BURSTS WITH COLORS FOR MENTAL WELLNESS | LIFE Color Fun Run kicks off Suicide Prevention Campaign

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) turned into a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors today, March 31, 2025, as students, faculty, and various student organizations united at the CBSUA Pili Grounds to champion mental wellness and the crucial cause of suicide prevention. The spirited gathering marked the official launch of the L.I.F.E (Listen, Intervene, Foster, and Empower) Program, a proactive and timely initiative spearheaded by the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) – Guidance and Counseling Unit, in collaboration with the Student Organization Unit.

According to Ms. Jessel Anne Rodriguez, Director of OSAS, the LIFE Color Fun Run was more than just a lively spectacle. She stated, “It is a call to action, emphasizing the importance of mental health awareness and fostering a culture of open dialogue.”

Participants joyfully traversed the course, enveloped in bursts of vibrant colors that symbolized the richness of life and the critical need to break the silence that often surrounds mental health struggles.

In his welcome message, Dr. Allan P. Del Rosario, CBSUA Pili Campus administrator, emphasized the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment, stating, “We hope to encourage students to openly discuss their emotional well-being, address mental health concerns without stigma, and adopt coping strategies that promote resilience.”

“With this event, we aim to educate the community about mental wellness, suicide prevention, and the significance of seeking help when needed,” Dr. Del Rosario added.

In addition to raising awareness, the event underscored the strong link between physical activity and mental well-being. Running and other forms of exercise are known to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression while fostering a sense of belonging and connectedness within the community. The LIFE Color Fun Run effectively combined fitness and advocacy, reinforcing the message that mental health is just as vital as physical health.

The CBSUA community continues to take bold steps toward empowering students with knowledge, resources, and a support system that prioritizes their emotional and psychological well-being. Through the LIFE Program, the institution remains steadfast in its commitment to mental health advocacy, intervention, and empowerment.

As the colors settled and the echoes of laughter and cheers faded, one thing remained clear: CBSUA is determined to run the extra mile for mental health, ensuring that every student feels heard, supported, and valued.
