CBSUA ALUMNA TALKS ABOUT EMBRACING DIVERSITY IN ELEMENTARY CLASSROOMS IN NEW ZEALAND

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) continued its Global Classroom Lecture Series on April 30, 2025, with an engaging online session featuring Ms. Joanne Paredes-Dulce, a proud BEED alumna of COE Calabanga campus and current Early Childhood Education (ECE) teacher in New Zealand.

In her talk titled โ€œEmbracing Diversity in the Learning Environment in New Zealand,โ€ Ms. Dulce shared how inclusion, cultural sensitivity, and learner-centered approaches shape teaching practices in her host country. She spoke about the importance of acknowledging studentsโ€™ cultural backgrounds and supporting their learning through empathy, equity, and respect. Her experiences offered practical insights for CBSUA students who aim to become future-ready educators in a global context.

The webinar was part of the Student Exposure Program (SEP) for Bachelor of Elementary Education students, designed to give them a wider understanding of international teaching environments. The session opened with a welcome message from Dr. Cherry Love B. Montales, Director of the International Relations Office. Ms. Mariss Encinares, IRO Campus Coordinator, followed with an inspirational message that encouraged students to embrace diversity in and beyond the classroom. Dr. Nilda P. Olores, BEED Program Chair, introduced the speaker and later delivered the closing message. Dr. Jenelyn Aguelo, Dean of COE Calabanga, showed her full support during the event. Ms. Regine Atondo, a third-year BEED student, served as moderator for the event.

The event highlighted CBSUAโ€™s ongoing commitment to internationalization and to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4): Quality Education, by exposing students to real-life experiences of Filipino educators abroad and fostering inclusive teaching practices.
