CBSUA ACHIEVES LANDMARK RECOGNITION IN 2025 TIMES HIGHER EDUCATION IMPACT RANKINGS: RANKS 1ST IN BICOL, 4TH IN PH

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) further cemented its crucial role in driving sustainable development by achieving a significant milestone in the prestigious 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings. The university ranked 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗹 and 𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 among Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), a powerful affirmation of its deep commitment to addressing pressing global challenges.

The annual THE Impact Rankings rigorously assess universities worldwide based on their contributions to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year’s results showcased CBSUA’s remarkable progress, as it ascended from an overall ranking of 1001- 1500 last year to the 𝟴𝟬𝟭- 𝟭𝟬𝟬𝟬 band in 2025. This upward trajectory reflects a significant expansion and deepening of its influence.

CBSUA demonstrated particularly strong performance in several key SDGs: SDG 4: Quality Education (301- 400), SDG 5: Gender Equality (201- 300), SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (201- 300), and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals (801- 1000).

Beyond these results, CBSUA’s participation and notable rankings in nine additional SDGs – bringing its total to 13 out of the 17 global goals – underscore its comprehensive approach to sustainable development. These includes ranking 201-300 for SDG 2: Zero Hunger; 401-600 for SDG 1: No Poverty and SDG 14: Life Below Water, 601-800 for SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, SDG 13: Climate Action; 801-1000 SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities; and 1001-1500 for SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.

This outstanding achievement emphasizes CBSUA’s dedication to not only academic excellence but also its vital societal role. The THE Impact Rankings, unique in their holistic approach, evaluate universities’ societal impact beyond traditional academic metrics, including their research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching activities aligned with the 17 SDGs. CBSUA’s consistent performance is a testament to the tangible results of its comprehensive efforts.

As the top-ranked university in the Bicol region and among the elite in the Philippines within the THE Impact Rankings, CBSUA stands as a vital beacon for sustainable development.

“These achievements not only elevate our university’s global standing but, more importantly, inspire other institutions and communities in the Philippines to embrace and actively pursue the principles of sustainability,” stated CBSUA President Dr. Alberto N. Naperi. “We remain steadfast in our mission of academic excellence, impactful research, and dedicated community engagement, continuing to shape future leaders who will drive positive change and foster a more sustainable future for the Bicol Region and beyond.”
