The Carmel Agri-Learning Farm Inc., in partnership with the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture, led a benchmarking activity at established System of Rice Intensification (SRI) sites at Bagnos Learning Center in Behia and Salinlahi Farm in San Antonio, both in Tiaong, Quezon Province on February 25 to 27, 2025.
SRI Technicians, cooperators, selected CBSUA faculty members, and students participated in the activity which provided them with enriched knowledge, enhanced skills, and valuable insights into SRI.
The benchmarking activity offered an in-depth exploration of organic agriculture and modern agricultural technologies, featuring interactive sessions from the Organic Agriculture Research, Development, and Extension Center (OARDEC), Institute of Plant Breeding (IPB), and the National Seed Foundation at UPLB, Laguna. By acquiring direct knowledge of organic farming techniques and new technologies, participants deepened their understanding of ecological sustainability and its vital role in enhancing environmental resilience and food security.
Throughout the three-day learning tour, participants engaged in interactive discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions among farmers, researchers, and students. This experience broadened their technical competencies and inspired them to apply and disseminate the acquired knowledge and skills in their respective communities. The activity marked a significant step toward fostering innovation, sustainability, and resilience in Philippine agriculture.
This learning visit was made possible through the joined efforts of the owner of Carmel Agri-Learning Farm Inc., Carmelita N.
