BSTM STUDENTS CELEBRATE HISPANIC CULTURE IN “FIESTA DE HISPANIDAD” CULMINATING EVENT

In a vibrant celebration of Hispanic culture, sophomore Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management students taking Foreign Language II (TPC-7 – Spanish Language) successfully held their culminating activity titled “Fiesta de Hispanidad” on May 19, 2025, in front of the Administration building.
The event highlighted the rich cultural heritage of various Spanish-speaking countries, including Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, and Puerto Rico, among others. The celebration served as a culminating activity for the students’ learning in Spanish language and Hispanic culture, blending language acquisition with cultural immersion.
Colorful food booths lined the venue, each offering authentic dishes and delicacies inspired by the featured countries. Guests had the chance to savor traditional favorites such as tapas from Spain, tacos from Mexico, empanadas from Argentina, arepas from Colombia, and other regional specialties, giving everyone a literal taste of Hispanic culture.
Adding to the festive atmosphere were infographics and visual presentations that provided informative insights into the history, customs, festivals, and tourism highlights of each featured nation. These displays served not only as decorative elements but also as educational materials, reflecting the students’ research and creativity.
The event was further enlivened by song and dance performances, where students showcased traditional dances like Spain’s flamenco, Colombia’s cumbia, and Mexico’s folkloric dances. A movie marathon also ran throughout the day, screening popular films from the Hispanic world that gave the audience a cinematic glimpse into the lives and stories from Spanish-speaking countries.
Another key highlight of Fiesta de Hispanidad was the representation of unique cultural practices and traditions from the showcased countries, from traditional games and costumes to language mini-lessons and cultural trivia contests that engaged the crowd and deepened their appreciation of Hispanic identity.
The event was a testament to the students’ dedication, creativity, and enthusiasm in embracing cultural diversity and global awareness—an essential component of their training as future tourism professionals.
“Fiesta de Hispanidad” not only celebrated linguistic skills but also fostered intercultural understanding, making it a meaningful and memorable experience for everyone involved. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘔𝘳. 𝘌𝘯𝘳𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦 𝘝𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘳, 𝘋𝘦𝘱𝘵. 𝘰𝘧 𝘛𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘮 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯
