For the PDL students at the BJMP Naga City District Jail, education is more than a privilege—it’s a lifeline to hope and transformation. Despite the barriers they face, their determination to learn remains unshaken.
During an Interaction and Feedback Session on October 4, 2024, these students shared their gratitude for the opportunity to study despite their circumstances. Unlike traditional students, they didn’t have to worry about tuition fees or commuting. However, they faced a different challenge—a lack of essential learning tools such as laptops or computers.
Hearing their concerns, the University President, Dr. Alberto N. Naperi, and the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Emerson L. Bergonio, assured them that the University would step in to help. And today, April 1, 2025, that promise became a reality.
Three brand-new laptops were personally handed over by Dr. Emerson Bergonio, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Ms. Lea Pacao, the College Education Behind Bar CBSUA Coordinator, to the BJMP Naga City District Jail. With these laptops, the PDL students now have additional resources to continue their studies.
CBSUA’s promise wasn’t just about providing technology; it was about showing these students that they are seen, heard, and valued. And as they power on their new laptops, they are also powering up their future. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘘𝘶𝘦𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘦 𝘉𝘢𝘭𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘎𝘭𝘦𝘯 𝘊𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘤𝘰
