10 TESDA STUDENTS TO GRADUATE FROM CBSUA BSHM PROGRAM THIS JUNE

Through a pioneering partnership of the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority – Ragay Polytechnic Skills Institute (TESDA-RPSI), 10 students from the TESDA-RPSI are set to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) degree from the CBSUA this June.

Under this collaboration, RPSI graduates of the Diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Services Management (HSRM) were granted to transfer credits earned from their diploma programs into CBSUA’s BSHM program, allowing them to complete their bachelor’s degree without redundancy in coursework. This credit transfer system will be governed by the guidelines set by CHED and TESDA, ensuring transparency and consistency in the credit recognition process.

Today, the partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), building upon previous collaborative efforts between the institutions. Notably, a joint planning conference and workshop held in March 2023 focused on harmonizing curricula between RPSI’s diploma programs and CBSUA’s bachelor’s degree offerings.

Dr. Alberto N. Naperi, University President of CBSUA, expressed the university’s dedication to accessible, quality education and its support for national strategies aimed at upskilling the Filipino workforce. He was joined by Mariglo L. Macabuhay-Sese, CESE, Acting Regional Director of TESDA Region V, who also delivered a message of commitment, highlighting the collaborative effort to ensure that no Filipino learner is left behind in their pursuit of higher qualifications.

This integration of TESDA’s Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs with CBSUA’s higher education offerings exemplifies the institutions’ commitment to aligning academic curricula with industry needs.
