Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) President Dr. Alberto N. Naperi welcomed Ms. Jessica Carol M. Sugcang, Program Manager for Education of Peace Corps Philippines, for a courtesy call and meeting today, April 4, 2025. The discussion centered on Peace Corps’ education programs and the potential collaboration for the placement of their agencyβs incoming American volunteers.
Ms. Sugcang stated that Peace Corps Philippines anticipates the arrival of a new cohort of Education Sector volunteers in July. The program focuses on supporting teacher professional development, enhancing student academic performance, and improving school community participation β goals that align with CBSUA’s mission of delivering quality higher education.
Dr. Naperi expressed his appreciation for Peace Corps Philippines considering CBSUA as a potential partner. He conveyed his enthusiasm for future collaboration, noting its potential to support the university’s commitment to United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) #4 Quality Education and #17 Partnership for the Goals.
Peace Corps Philippines is the countryβs field office of the United States Peace Corps, an independent U.S. agency that deploys American volunteers globally to assist with locally identified development needs.
