Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) demonstrated its commitment to internationalization by achieving significant recognition at the ICONS 2024 Ceremony held today at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Manila, today.
The university was awarded the championship in the Global Citizenship category and secured second runner-up in the Outstanding International Education Program category of the Internationalization Champions of Nation-Building and Sustainability (ICONS) Awards.
For the Global Citizenship Award, CBSUA highlighted the 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 (𝗜𝗣), a collaborative short-term project involving students and faculty from the Philippines and Belgium. This program fosters global responsibility and international cooperation by addressing critical issues such as sustainable agriculture, entrepreneurship, and climate change.
The IP-Philippines 2023, organized in partnership with VIVES University of Applied Sciences, brought together 48 students from both countries to develop innovative solutions for challenges faced by community organizations in the Bicol Region.
Meanwhile, for the Outstanding International Education Program Award, CBSUA showcased its 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 (𝗜𝗖𝗧𝗣). This initiative prioritizes inclusivity and fosters cross-cultural understanding, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The ICTP allows students to earn academic credits by studying abroad, enhancing their global competitiveness and promoting international cooperation.
Furthermore, the program incorporates Indigenous perspectives by offering courses that highlight Filipino Indigenous knowledge, culture, and traditions.
