As part of the WE CARE TOGETHER PROGRAM: A Community GAD Model, orientations and trainings on Gender and Human Rights in Relation to Climate Change were initiated by various CBSUA offices such as the College of Development Education, Bicol Gender and Development Resource Center, Center for Human Rights Education, Guidance and Counseling Unit, and the Extension Services Division in partnership with the Siervas De Jesus and the Fundacion Religiosos Para La Salud on September 3, 2024 at Pawili, Pili, Camarines Sur and on September 24, 2024, at the La Purisima Legislative Hall, Pili, Camarines Sur.
The event aimed to initiate intervention activities to develop the Barangays of La Purisima and Del Rosario, Pili, Camarines Sur, into a GAD Model Learning Laboratory and sought to conduct a training-workshop on gender sensitivity and to highlight the gender issues faced by women in the context of climate change.
Moreover, the orientation aimed to address mental health issues as an effect of climate change and to integrate mental health considerations into disaster risk reduction and response programs as well as human rights in relation to climate change.
Present during the activity, representatives from civil society organizations and womenβs groups, Hon. Mario T. Cleofe, Chairperson- BLGU Pawili, from FRS, Rechelda V. Perico and Edna P. Arevalo, Community Organizers, and Marie Joyce Cheryl B. Armea, Local Coordinator. The faculty experts from the College of Development Education, Prof. Julie Amara M. Bondilles, Prof. Leizle B. Manacob, Dr. Glenn Redecilla, the Director of Regional GAD Resource Center, and Atty. Deonalaine Ivy P.
