In a pioneering effort led by Dr. Gladys Rosales, the Cooperative Learners and Empowerment of Agricultural Responders (CLEAR) Project conducted a comprehensive two-part training session on “Green Business and Urban Gardening,” a collaboration between SIDECO, BISCAST, and other partners, held at the BISCAST Mini Theater and Library on April 26, 2024.
The said event aimed at equipping agricultural responders with vital skills and knowledge; the training marked a significant stride towards sustainable business ventures in agriculture.
The seminar brought together members from various municipalities under SIDECO, including Pamplona, Ragay, Calabanga, Naga, and Sipocot, along with faculty members from BISCAST. Dr. Orbel S. Cepeda, a distinguished professor at BISCAST and former VPAA, opened the seminar with a profound discussion on Green Business Sustainability. Dr. Cepeda shared his wealth of experience and innovative concepts like Eco-Friendly Beauty Salons and Eco-Friendly Landscaping, providing participants with a fresh perspective on sustainable business practices.
The second part of the session saw Jayryl D. Enano, BAT Program Chairperson from CBSUA-CANR, take the stage as the Resource Person. Enano delved into Urban Gardening, covering crucial aspects such as planting methods, crop rotation, and soil health. His presentation emphasized the importance of knowledge in gardening for food security and sustainability, concluding with the powerful statement, “There will come a time when only those who know how to plant will be eating.”
The training also included a hands-on planting session, where participants applied the techniques and knowledge acquired during the seminar. Facilitated by Mr. Enano and supported by SIDECO, this activity underscored the collaborative spirit of the initiative, providing a practical and enriching learning experience for all involved.
